1970 Ford Falcon XY GT - Genuine XY GT Falcon - One of 6 known Surfer Orange XY GT’s - One of one in its full build specification - Matching numbers 351ci V8 - Converted to 31 spline 4 speed Top Loader Manual - Factory power steering - Factory 5 slot wheels with red stripe tyres - ICAARS inspected with preliminary inspection report This is a genuine December, 1970 built Ford XY GT Falcon. The car was manufactured at Ford’s Broadmeadows plant in Victoria before being sold new by Peter Warren Ford in Fairfield, NSW. The car was one of 50 with Special order paint and one of only 6 known to be code Y289 Surfer Orange, (the same colour made famous by the 1969 Ford XW Surferoo utes) and one of one in its full specification. The car has been through a full rebuild in the 90s and is a very correct example. The car was inspected by ICAARS in our showroom to confirm its authenticity with preliminary inspection report attached in pictures. The body of the car has been fully repainted in its signature hue with gloss black GT black outs. The chrome on the front and rear bumpers is very well presented and all of the glass in the car is original and date coded with the exception of the drivers side front quarter window. This is a great sign that the car hasn’t had any significant hits that would require glass to be replaced. Inside, the trim is very neatly restored to factory in black vinyl in the correct pattern. During the restoration a new old stock dash facia was sourced for the car. The carpets and head liner are all in good condition. Under the bonnet is the original matching numbers 351ci V8 engine that was rebuild during the restoration. The engine bay has been kept as original as possible with a correct and genuine shaker up on top of the engine. The engine number stamping as well as the tower stamping have both been inspected and verified as correct by ICAARS. The engine is paired to a GTHO Spec, 31 spline 4 speed top loader manual transmission. The gentleman who restored the car confirmed the swap from factory automatic to manual during the restoration. The rear brakes were also upgraded to GTHO spec drums at the same time. The car is also fitted with factory power steering which is noted on its options in its ACCHS report. The full restoration was completed in late 1990 but the car wasn’t actually registered again until 1994 because the owner at the time felt it was too good to drive. Since its registration it has been owned by collectors who rarely drove the car but kept it well maintained with regular start ups and stored inside in good climates. Good examples of XY GT Falcons are difficult to come by these days and this one in a rare and desirable colour combo with an ICAARS verification is a sound investment grade Aussie muscle car.
