Harley Davidson 1942 WLA (Sonic Blue) After the movie "Easy Rider" was shown in the massive Euroa picture theatre in 1974, early custom builder Dax Underwood started on Sonic Blue by requesting Jim from Sonic Chopper to build the forks, using radius rods off a old car he found. The original frame was customized to take a Limey gearbox but was later cut up for an engine stand. In 1978 after Charlie Palmer was harassed by a out of town copper as he rode to work, the copper put a yellow canary on the speedo. After the copper was finished he said he was restoring a WLA and might need some help [truck him]. So when Dax heard that had happened he offered and helped fit forks to Charlie bike to ride with him to Broadford HA concert that weekend. Come early 2000's and the forks rosed again as they were given to Charlie as Dax had moved to an island. Come Oct 2016 and the "Great Race" announcement was that Merrijig was that place and the Theme was Choppers and Bobbers. Sonic Blue was starting to be built and some life changing news that Charlie received. A quick mock up in November, December the panels and frame were given to the world famous Keed Bro's custom painters and Ronnie painted it with Herring bones, Fish scales, paisley and a ghosted Harley on the rear fender. The bike was finished one week before the Great Race 2017. At the same venue Barbara Mallon rode a Dax Underwood creation bobber that was built in 1978 and won Best Bobber/Chopper.
