Bandit is a purebred Welsh sired by a registered Welsh section D colt, out of an unregistered Welsh mountain pony. Due to his sire being colt registered and not upgraded to stallion and his dam being unregistered, Bandit can't be registered with WPCS.
Bandit was planned to be registered as Sundance Kid after his sire was upgraded, so that is on his DNA colour profile paperwork. His sire was never upgraded and probably never will be. I had him colour tested because I was unsure if he was sooty palomino or something else, but he is sooty palomino. This profile is a digital certificate and can be provided to the buyer to use to register him with Dilutes Australia, or other colour specific clubs, if so desired.
Bandit was never supposed to stay here and he's an extra mouth to feed, hooves to trim, etc. That said, he has been here since only 2 months old with his dam and he stayed here when his dam left when he was 10 months old. He'll be 2 years old next month and he was gelded at the start of this year.
Bandit has been handled daily the whole time he's been here and he's quite easy to work with. He's easy to catch, comes when called, walks on lead and ties up. He's float trained and he travels well because I had to float train him to go to the vet for gelding, since they charge me an additional $400 in travel to come out here. He's always been easy to worm and vaccinate. Bandit is quite calm and relaxed, even as a colt he was a gentle and easy to handle boy. He's good with his front hooves, not so cooperative with his hinds, but he doesn't kick, just tries to snatch his hoof back or shake you off. He's never been a biter and has no dirt, other than not liking his hind hooves picked up.
Bandit does have a tear in one nostril, it happened when he was a tiny foal. Part of the reason he came here was because at a few weeks old he got tangled under a fence and was stuck there for an unknown number of days. After spending several weeks somewhere else to recover, he and his dam moved here, along with several other horses from the same place. Bandit has no other obvious scars from that ordeal and I don't believe he was otherwise injured, just stuck and exhausted, in need of fluids and getting steady on his feet again. But I assume the nostril tear happened then, since it was already healed when he came here.
I expect Bandit to grow to about 13.2-13.3hh, but that's just an estimate and I often have a tendancy to slightly underestimate the EMH of horses.
Bandit is good with other horses and is always the most submissive to older or bigger horses, more than any other horse I've witnessed. He will actually go down onto the ground fully in submission to a new horse, or one he hasn't been paddocked with in a while. Bandit spent a few months in our goat paddock prior to gelding and he's used to all the normal farm machinery, vehicles and noises, including our livestock guardian dogs. He's an absolutely stunning boy, even at his gawky 2 year old stage. He's going to be a very chunky boy and he already has very solid legs, more like a traditional Welsh cob, not the modern sporting type.
I've toyed with the idea of keeping Bandit a number of times because he's such a stunning looking and good natured boy and he's going to be the shorter, stocky type of horse that I prefer. But I have to be realistic about what I can afford to keep, as well as what I'm capable of doing as my health and physical ability is declining. Bandit is for sale through no fault of his own, this is as much a financial decision as a logical decision for my own health and his best welfare.
