Information
Lot # 57
Group - Category Construction & Farm - Livestock
Lead (VIC) DIEGO - THOROUGHBRED GELDING
Description
* AS PROVIDED BY VENDOR * NAME: Greetings Ned (Diego) BREED: Thoroughbred SEX: Gelding HEIGHT:15,2hh (Not measured) AGE: 9 PAPERS:(SUPPLIED BY VENDOR) No We got Diego 15 months ago for my then 9yo son to ride and take to PC rallies. A few jig jog moments the first rally but then Diego settled in and was unfazed by games, polocross, obstacles, bareback, showjumping, and cross country. He is a calm, friendly, kind horse and has always been good for my kids to handle. He is good to catch, shoe, float, saddle etc. He's done 4 PC rallies with us and many lessons and was well behaved even out on the cross country course with a young rider on him and has done some clinics in indoor arenas before we got him. About a year ago Diego got kicked in the head with a suspected fracture and a giant lump formed on his forehead, following vets advice we just turned him out and after a few months the lump started to go down again and settled to only look slightly ugly. Luckily his forelock covers it. When we first brought him back into work I got straight on and he did a couple of bucks and rears (not bad ones, and he had never done anything like that before). He then had a few more months off. After Christmas we started lunging him and then lunging my son on him and then a few off the lead slow rides, a few stubborn moments not wanting to go away from the other horses but otherwise he did nothing wrong. Lately he’s happily trotting around the paddock and popped him over a small jump and did a small canter and he was fine but a bit foot sore.  My son had a new horse and I don’t have the time and Diego is a wimp and doesn’t go well barefoot over summer (he’s ok barefoot when the ground is softer) and I can’t justify shoeing him for the once a fortnight or so we get the time to work him so I’m selling him as a project but pretty sure he would be quick and easy to bring back into full work if you put some front shoes on him.
