Australian Draft x QH Filly
DOB: 23/11/2020 (3yo)
Sire: Australian Draft (Black Stallion) Australian Drafts are a combination of Clydesdale, Percheron, Shire, and Suffolk Punch.
Dam: Quarter Horse (Chestnut)
Indy is 15.0 hh at the wither and 15.1 hh at the rump. She is excellent to catch - she catches you. Have washed her with no issues. She walks straight up onto a small straight load float. She is easy to worm. She ground ties and we have even trimmed her feet with an angle grinder while she just stood there without a halter on. We were just desensitizing her. She is up to date with farrier and worming but not vaccinated, microchipped, branded or registered, but can be registered with the Australian Draft Society.
She is unbroken but well exposed to all sorts of tack including bridles with a snaffle, and both western and stock saddles. We have sat on her and walked around to start breaking her in but have now run out of time with study and farm work. She didn’t care less having someone sit up there and so has had no bad experiences. She will end up bombproof under saddle. Took her for a walk in the forest with all her gear on just for exposure, and after 5 kms I got tired so I just hopped on her and walked along on her for a while to have a rest. Again she couldn’t care less.
She is bold, courageous, curious and extremely relaxed on a very noisy farm with every animal and piece of machinery imaginable including cattle, sheep, pigs, goats, dogs, cats, alpacas, guinea fowl, chooks, ducks, geese, tractors, motorbikes, trucks, pumps, angle grinders and truck bodies. She is dominant with other mares but less so with a herd of mares. She is not dominant towards geldings. She would suit harness, hunting, ranch sorting, camp drafting, mustering, trail riding, team penning, pony club, adult riding club, pack horse etc.
Very responsive to verbal cues and respectful on the ground.
She is very reluctantly offered for sale as I am too busy working, studying and trying to bring on another horse for eventing. She will be very easy to break in as she doesn’t care about anything.
She is a very good doer, unrugged, has tough feet, and will go all day. She shows interest when being led past cattle and is not scared of bulls etc. She is a very ballsy mare and will bond to her owner.
